Manipur violence: Kukis temporarily lift blockades along national highway
Kuki groups in Manipur have chosen to temporarily dismantle the roadblocks on National Highway 2, which connects Imphal, the capital of Manipur, with Dimapur in Nagaland. According to the Kuki groups, this temporary removal of blockades on National Highway 2 is being done as a "goodwill gesture" for one week. The decision to lift the blockade temporarily was made shortly after the appeal from Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Following the eruption of violence in Manipur on May 3, Kuki groups have initiated blockades on National Highway 2, a vital route that is considered a lifeline for the state's tribal-majority Kangpokpi district.
