Major fire at Madurai Collectorate office premises

An old building on the Madurai Collectorate premises caught fire at around 1 am, destroying a large stock of saris and dhotis that were being stored to be distributed as part of Pongal gift. More than 30 firemen worked for over four hours to extinguish the flames and brought the fire under control.
