Mahinda Rajapaksa resigns as Sri Lanka's PM

Mahinda Rajapaksa, who was appointed as prime minister by President M Sirisena in a controversial move, resigned from the post. The move came after two Supreme Court decisions made his efforts untenable. The Sri Lankan Supreme Court unanimously declared that the dissolution of Parliament by Sirisena was "illegal". Ranil Wickremesinghe is most likely to take oath as Sri Lanka's Premier on Sunday.
