Sharad Pawar, the chief of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), arrived in Karad. Prithviraj Chavan, a Congress leader and former chief minister of Maharashtra, is going to welcome him. Chavan said that Pawar is the leader of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance in Maharashtra and is also leading the opposition unity at the national level. Pawar has suffered a major setback after his nephew Ajit Pawar joined the government of Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis. However, Pawar said that he would build a new leadership in the party and that he gets more energy to work when faced with challenges. He also asserted that he is the face of the party for the future. Eight other NCP MLAs, including loyalists of Pawar such as Chhagan Bhujbal and Dilip Walse Patil, have also joined the government as ministers. Pawar said that he would go to the people and show them that the recent developments are not in their favor.
