People from the Tribal community of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh are protestingagainstthe construction of a bridge across River Indravati. The tribal community is protestingforthe past 14 days in theMaharashtra-Chhattisgarhborder area. As per the Tribal people,the construction of the bridge will facilitate loot of ‘Jal-Jungle-Zameen’. Tribals are on indefinite protest. As per the administration,the construction of bridge will facilitatecommute. A Tribal leader, Lalsu Nogoti said, “People from 20-25 villages from Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra are here. There are no basic facilities here even after 75 years of independence. Such bridges are only to facilitate loot of ‘Jal-Jungle-Zameen’. The protest began on Jan 04. We intend to protest indefinitely.” Assistant Collector, Etapalli, Shubham Gupta said, “As far as I know,it's being built in Chhattisgarh's area. With this, people living on Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border won't face difficulty in commuting.I don't think halting the construction is right. We will talk to peopleandemphasise why bridge is important.”
