Kerala Governor condemns humiliation of girl student at Malappuram
Reacting to the viral video in which a Muslim cleric was seen publicly scolding organisers of an event for inviting a girl on stage to receive an award in Malappuram district, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan on May 11 condemned the incident and said that he is surprised that no cognizance has been taken till now. “If this would have been spoken about, I wouldn't have needed to speak. It is surprising no one has spoken, no cognizance taken. Are we going to leave our daughters to the whims and wills of persons masquerading as religious leaders but are highly discriminating against women. I consider it a sin to remain silent when our daughters are being humiliated, insulted,” said the Governor.
