Justice Ramana-led collegium saw appointment of 11 SC judges, 185 High Court judges

CJI NV Ramana has recommended the name of Justice UU Lalit as his successor. Justice Lalit would be taking oath as CJI on August 27. With the CJI Ramana-led collegium’s last meeting ending in a stalemate, it will be Justice Lalit-led collegium that will decide on filling 3 vacancies in the SC. However, Justice Ramana-led collegium has been fairly successful in filling judicial vacancies including vacancies in the Supreme Court. CJI Ramana-led collegium saw appointment of 11 SC judges. 9 SC judges were appointed in one go in August last year. These included appointment of 3 women judges.
