After the two back-to-back shocking incidents of atrocities against minor girls in Jharkhandís Dumka, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights Chairman Priyank Kanoongo on September 05 directed the police to mend loopholes in the investigation. On the Dumka case where a girl was set ablaze, he said, "There are loopholes in the police investigation. Even after 12-13 days of the incident, statements of relatives have not been recorded completely. The police do not have complete information on her social media accounts yet. All of this shows a lack of proper investigation by the Police. We have directed the Police to mend these gaps in the investigation." On the case related to a minor girl hanged to death, he said, "We were not allowed to meet the parents of the child. Parents are not given compensation and not allowed to meet investigative agencies. There's doubt over the administration's role."
