Amid the ongoing controversy regarding conducting trials for Asian Games 2023, Indian Wrestler Sakshee Malikkh on July 20, said that she does not want to compete at the Asian Games without giving a trial. She added that she was offered direct entry to the competition but she denied it directly. She expressed displeasure over the protest outside IOA and also agreed to conduct trials. “I got a call from the government side with an offering to get direct entry to the Asian Games 2023. I denied it directly. I have never competed without giving any trial and will always follow this. It is unfortunate that young wrestlers have to hold protests for this. A fair trial should be conducted before the competition,” said Sakshee Malikkh. Wrestlers along with their parents held a protest outside the Indian Olympic Association in Delhi on July 20. They demanded the trial of the various weight categories for the Asian Games 2023. The parents and the wrestlers raised slogans against the IOA. Indian Wrestlers Yogeshwar Dutt also joined the protest and appealed to the association for a fair trial. Notably, the IOA has allowed various players like Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat to compete in the Asian Games 2023 without giving any trial.
