India Negotiates Safe Passage For Tankers At Hormuz With Iran As Concerns Over LPG Supply Increase
India is racing against time to secure its LPG supply lines as tensions around the Strait of Hormuz disrupt shipping in one of the world’s most critical energy corridors. Government sources say New Delhi is negotiating with Iran to move eight LPG tankers currently waiting near the narrow waterway. The development comes amid rising concerns about potential shortages and reports of cylinder hoarding in parts of India. With nearly 60 to 67 percent of LPG demand met through imports, disruptions along the Hormuz route could affect supply chains. Diplomatic efforts led by S. Jaishankar and Iran’s Abbas Araghchi are focused on ensuring safe passage for ships and protecting global energy flows.
