'Income Has Stopped': Actor and BJP Minister Suresh Gopi Signals Possible Exit From Politics

Union Minister and veteran Malayalam actor Suresh Gopi has revealed he may step down from politics to return to the film industry. Speaking at a BJP event in Kannur, Gopi admitted his income has “stopped” since joining politics and expressed his desire to prioritize his acting career. The 66-year-old former National Award winner said he never intended to quit films for a ministerial role. Representing Thrissur in the Lok Sabha, Gopi currently serves as Minister of State for Petroleum and Tourism. He also recommended C Sadanandan Master, Kerala BJP’s newly elected Rajya Sabha member, as his successor in the Union cabinet, calling it a “new chapter in Kerala politics.” Gopi’s remarks highlight the tension many actors-turned-politicians face—balancing public service with personal passion. His potential exit raises questions about the BJP’s political strategy in Kerala and how one of Mollywood’s most iconic actors plans to navigate a comeback while leaving politics behind.
