IBM signed MoUs with the Government of India on Semiconductors, AI and Quantum on October 18. Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar was present at the occasion. Rajeev Chandrasekhar said, “This is certainly a very important day because three of the four technologies that are going to shape the future of tech and innovation in the coming years - AI, Quantum and Semiconductor and the fourth...represent for us tremendous opportunities for our academic ecosystem, for the startups and innovation ecosystem in particular and of course, the broader opportunity of creating global standard talent in India that can take advantage of the opportunities in Quantum, Semiconductors and AI.”Sandip Patel, Managing Director, IBM India/South Asia said, “We have signed three MoUs. One of them is on semiconductor research. India will have to build several types of ecosystems for India Semiconductor Mission. R&D is needed for all of that...We have been working in this area for years. We will collaborate with the Government...The second one is AI. India is making a lot of progress in the field of Artificial Intelligence. We have been working in AI for years. We run AI skilling programs. As AI platforms increase in India, we will be a partner to the Govt to increase it. We will go ahead in the area of skilling. The third one is on Quantum Computing. The technology is beginning now. We are working on it in India. We will partner under the India Quantum Mission announced by the Govt to bring the technology to the country.”

Swarm Drones vs Stealth Bombers: 10 Powerful Weapons Shaping the U.S.-Iran-Israel War | Explained

The war involving the United States, Israel and Iran is rapidly turning into one of the most technologically intense battles in modern military history. Since the start of hostilities on February 28, Iran has launched more than 500 ballistic missiles and over 1,000 drones across the Middle East, targeting US bases, oil infrastructure and key installations across the Gulf. In response, the United States and its allies have deployed stealth bombers, cruise missiles and layered missile defence systems to counter the attacks. From the swarming Shahed-136 and Shahed-131 drones to the long-range Shahab-3 and the controversial Fattah missile, the conflict highlights Iran’s strategy of using large numbers of low-cost weapons to overwhelm defences. On the other side, the US relies on advanced platforms like the B-2 Spirit capable of delivering the powerful GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator, as well as precision strikes using the Tomahawk cruise missile. Defending against these attacks are layered systems such as the Patriot missile defence system and THAAD, while cheaper alternatives like the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System are increasingly used to counter drone swarms. In this explainer, we break down the 10 key weapons shaping the US-Iran conflict and how the battle between low-cost drones and high-tech defence systems could determine the future of warfare in the Middle East.
