After 20 years of relentless effort, Maharashtra has managed to bring the rate of paediatric human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections down to just 2% from more than 30% in the early 2000s, marking a remarkable victory in the war against AIDS and opening a new window of possibilities for couples, where either one or both partners are HIV positive.
