After US President Donald Trump’s latest remarks on India and PM Modi, Indian leaders from across the political spectrum responded sharply. Congress leader Manish Tewari, responding to Trump’s earlier statement of ‘Losing India to China’ remark’, invoked India’s colonial past, stating the nation won’t bow to strong-arming, while Priyanka Chaturvedi mocked US officials. Karti Chidambaram emphasized that India-US ties are strategic and long-term. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis praised PM Modi’s global leadership and said India won’t let others dictate its foreign policy. RJD’s Manoj Jha cautioned against falling for Trump’s inconsistency and optics-driven diplomacy. President Trump had called Modi a great leader and reaffirmed their friendship, to which PM Modi responded positively. EAM Jaishankar noted that Modi had always valued the US partnership and shared a strong personal bond with Trump.
