Home Minister Amit Shah Questions Rahul Gandhi’s Morality Over Tearing Manmohan Singh’s Ordinance
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has reignited a decade-old political storm, questioning Rahul Gandhi’s shifting stance on political morality. In a sharp attack, Shah recalled the 2013 incident where Rahul Gandhi publicly tore an ordinance brought by then-PM Manmohan Singh to shield convicted lawmakers, including Lalu Prasad Yadav. Contrasting it with Rahul’s present opposition to the Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, 2025, Shah asked: “If tearing the ordinance was morality then, what changed now?” The proposed amendment seeks automatic removal of the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers, or Ministers if jailed for more than 30 days on serious charges. Opposition calls it a “black law,” while the BJP frames it as a bold step for accountability. With Rahul cornered on his past actions and the Modi government pushing for a stronger constitutional framework, the clash has set the stage for one of Parliament’s fiercest showdowns.
