He even appeared naked - reclining on rug with his arm strategically positioned - for a women's magazine in 1972. In 1997, he earned an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor for 'Boogie Nights'. However, his personal life sometimes overshadow his movies, including failed marriages to actresses Loni Anderson and Judy Carne and romances with Sally Field and Dinah Shore, among others.
