Hike in UK visa fees comes into effect: How will it impact students, other travellers

The United Kingdom has implemented a significant increase in visa fees, following an announcement by UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in July. The cost of short-term visas, valid for under six months, has risen from £100 to £115. Meanwhile, student visas for those enrolling in UK universities will now cost £490. The UK Home Office has justified these fee hikes as necessary to fund the country's National Health Service (NHS). Additionally, visa applicants will be subject to higher Immigration Health Surcharge fees, part of their overall visa costs. These changes have global implications, impacting visa applicants worldwide.
