Hijab Ban stays; not essential religious practice, says Karnataka High Court

The Karnataka High Court has dismissed pro-Hijab petitions and upheld the Karnataka government's order on wearing uniforms on educational campuses. The three-judge bench comprising Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi, Justice Krishna S Dixit and Justice Jaibunissa Moiuddin Khazi ruled that wearing hijab is not an essential part of Islam. The court said that students cannot object to school uniforms.
