The festival of Govardhan Puja, also known as Annakut, holds profound religious significance in Hinduism, particularly dedicated to Lord Krishna. Celebrated on Pratipada Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Kartik, this day is a special homage to Lord Krishna and the revered Govardhan Hill. As per the Bhagavata Purana, the people of Gokul, following Lord Krishna's guidance, shifted their worship from Lord Indra to Govardhan Hill, the source of their sustenance. On this auspicious occasion, devotees express immense devotion and love towards Lord Krishna, recalling the divine act where he lifted the entire Govardhan Mountain on his little finger to shield the villagers from the wrath of Lord Indra's torrential rains.
