With a gigantic score of 99.75 pc, Manya Gupta of Kolkata topped the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on May 14. The result came out as a shocker for the family, as none of them were expecting that she would top India. Manya’s mother said, that her daughter gave her the best gift a mother can get on Mother’s Day. She said that it took almost five minutes to understand what happened, while Manya herself that she was informed by her friends.“We never imposed any restrictions on her. We had given her an open hand to study in her own way. She was confident. She wanted to become author but now for last few years, she wants to pursue psychology. It took almost five minutes to get what has happened. We were expecting good results but never expected this. She has given me the best gift any mother can ever get on Mother’s Day. Extremely proud, humbled and grateful,” said the topper’s mother.Speaking to ANI, Manya said, “I wasn’t expecting such marks at all. I was informed by my friends about topping in the entire country. I have always been night-puller before the exams. I had no sleep cycle at that time. My school supported me in all the possible ways it could. My parents have always been supportive. I have no such goal. Just want to do something in Psychology. I have applied for Psychology course abroad and in India as well.”
