While speaking over the latest DGCA guidelines for airlines industry amid flight delays due to fog, Aviation Expert and Director of Belair Michael Jain on January 16 said it’s a welcome move but further suggested that the government should form a permanent committee to come up with concrete measures. He also called for refunds to be made to passengers who will not be travelling due to flight delays because their purpose of travel won’t be fulfilled.He said, “A welcome move, but the government should form a proper committee to come up with concrete steps…People who are operating airlines, they are very experienced. They know that if there is fog and there is zero visibility then the situation will not change for 2-3 hours... They should inform that there would be a 3-hour delay... Information is critical and setting correct expectations is also important... I think they should give a full refund to the passengers because ultimately... If I have to reach a meeting and I am not able to attend because of the flight delay and the meeting is cancelled, then why would I go anymore? I should be allowed to get my money back...”
