Amid the ongoing row over Delhi University’s Economics faculty members opposing a suggestion in the Academic Council (AC) meeting to drop three elective papers from the undergraduate program, Delhi University Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh on June 11 said that they are waiting for the committee’s report on the issues raised on the three papers, which will be discussed in the Standing Committee Academic Affairs meeting on June 14 and the conclusions will then be placed in the next AC meeting for approval. “Some people objected that all three papers have something in common. In that case, they wanted to add more variety of papers. This matter came to the Academic Council for discussion. We should teach our students because the mindset that will develop now, after 25 years the students who are in the university system now will be in 2047 they will be on important positions. That’s why their education, training, mindset and thought process are very important to us. Let us wait for the committee’s report, which will be placed in the standing committee meeting on the academic council’s academic affairs on June 14th. After the recommendation of that, the matter will be placed in the university’s academic council,” said Delhi University Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh.
