Delimitation Row Escalates As TN CM Stalin Warns Of Statewide Protests
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has intensified his opposition to the Centre’s proposed delimitation amendment, terming it a historic injustice against Tamil Nadu and other southern states. He warned that the state could witness large-scale protests if the proposal is moved forward in Parliament. Stalin argued that the exercise to increase Lok Sabha seats may unfairly impact southern states’ political representation and disturb the federal balance. He also raised concerns over the timing and lack of transparency surrounding the constitutional amendment process. As part of the protest plan, he announced that black flags will be hoisted across Tamil Nadu as a symbolic demonstration. The DMK has positioned the issue as a matter of federal rights and equitable representation. Leaders from other southern states have also expressed concern and called for coordinated opposition. The Centre is yet to respond in detail, while the political debate over delimitation continues to intensify.
