Congress MP says India remains "heavily invested emotionally and politically" in Bangladesh
Delhi: Congress MP Manish Tewari underscored India’s pivotal role in the creation of Bangladesh in 1971, recalling how India intervened to stop persecution in East Pakistan and protect millions. He highlighted that India remains deeply invested both emotionally and politically in Bangladesh, with a strong historical bond that continues to influence bilateral relations. Despite recent turbulence, Tewari expressed confidence that ties between the two nations will return to an even keel. He emphasized that Bangladeshis recognize this shared history and that mutual respect, cooperation, and cultural connections will continue to guide India-Bangladesh relations, ensuring stability, growth, and strengthened partnership in the years ahead.
