Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker has described India as a key strategic partner whose voice holds growing influence in global affairs. At a time of geopolitical upheaval, he emphasised the importance of stable and trusted partnerships, calling India a pillar of such cooperation. Stocker reiterated that both India and Austria back a rules-based international order and believe that conflicts must be resolved through dialogue, not force. He praised India’s robust economic growth and highlighted the deepening presence of Austrian companies across sectors like semiconductors and renewable energy. Crucially, he called the India-EU Free Trade Agreement essential, stating it would boost trade, investments, and industrial cooperation amid global uncertainty. His visit, accompanied by top business leaders, marks a new chapter in bilateral ties, reinforcing India’s role as a major economic and geopolitical force.
