'An Unpredictable World': EAM Jaishankar Bats For Strategic Autonomy, Multi-Alignment
Speaking at the inaugural session of the Aravalli Summit’s ‘India & The World Order: Preparing for 2047’ conference at JNU, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar underscored the importance of strategic autonomy and multi-alignment in India's foreign policy. In light of an increasingly volatile and unpredictable global landscape, he argued that India must retain the freedom to make independent choices. “My interest is best secured by maximising my options and freedom of choice,” he said. Jaishankar emphasized that multi-alignment—not bloc politics—is better suited to today’s world, and key to securing national interests. His remarks reflect India’s evolving diplomatic strategy as it prepares for its centenary as an independent nation in 2047.
