Amid massive Covid spike in China, India asks states to track variants

As Covid cases spurt in China, the government has asked all states to be alert and has called a meeting of top health officials Wednesday. The meeting is to be presided over by Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya. The health ministry has written to all states to increase genome sequencing to track coronavirus variants for timely identification of any possible cluster.
