American Centre Attack 2002: Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh, US Consul General Speak At Kolkata Event
Tributes were paid to five West Bengal Police officials who lost their lives in the 2002 terrorist attack on the American Centre in Kolkata. West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh and US Consul General Kathy Giles-Diaz were also present at the programme. Dilip Ghosh said India and the US are strengthening friendly ties and highlighted joint efforts against terrorism, adding that terrorism has reduced in India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and called for global unity against it. Kathy Giles-Diaz recalled the 2002 attack in which terrorists on motorcycles opened fire, killing five police personnel, and said their sacrifice is remembered. She added that the American Centre represents hope and future, and praised Kolkata Police for their continued commitment to safety and security.
