“9MM Zigana, Girsan Parabellum” Turkish guns used by assailants to eliminate Atiq Ahmed, Ashraf
Gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead in Prayagraj on April 15. Three armed assailants showered bullets in full media glare when the duo was being taken for routine medical check-up. The UP Police released the details of the weapons used by the perpetrators to execute the crime. The killer used made in Turkey 9 MM Zigana, Girsan Parabellum pistols and one country-made pistol to eliminate Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf. These pistols reportedly cost around Rs 6 to 7 lakh and the weapons are banned in India. The UP Police has arrested the three assailants on the spot involved in the crime. The three accused have been identified as Sunny Singh, Lovelesh Tiwari and Arun Maurya. Disguised as journalists, assailants got close to gangsters and shot Atiq point blank while they were giving byte to mediapersons. Several cases of unlawful activities have been registered against the assailants by the UP Police.
