According to a study, commercial infant meals and formula milk are marketed online, and these marketing strategies are associated with poor parental feeding habits. Mums exposed to extensive digital marketing were less likely to exclusively breastfeed within the first 6 months and more likely to give their children processed foods and sugary drinks. The International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes (Code) stipulates that any informational and educational material should state the benefits and superiority of breastfeeding. Marketing regulations should ban breast-milk substitutes and baby food promotion in digital media and the use of health claims.
