Leeza Mangaldas advocates normalizing conversation around menstrual hygiene

Myths and taboos around menstruation are prevalent in Indian society. People tend to follow these myths and taboos that stop women from leading a good life because of the lack of education. Women are not allowed to participate in their family events and practice their faith during periods because of the myths revolving around it. Millions of women and girls are forced to drop out of their schools, face restrictions and leave their workplace because of the taboos associated with vaginal bleeding. A lot of efforts are being made to bust these myths and educate people about the menstruation cycle and how it is a completely normal process. Cut the shame is an initiative by the Times of India to remove the stigma attached to this completely normal monthly phenomenon.
