Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Panic: Russia Drops Explosive Warning, Kyiv Panics; 'ALL BOUNDARIES CROSSED'
Russia's state nuclear energy corporation, Rosatom, accused Ukraine of carrying out a deliberate drone attack on the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), Europe's largest nuclear facility. Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev claimed that a fiber-optic-guided drone struck the machine hall of the plant's sixth power unit, puncturing a hole in the structure. He argued that the nature of the weapon ruled out the possibility of an accidental strike and warned that any serious incident at the facility could have consequences extending far beyond the battlefield. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed it had been informed of a drone strike on the turbine building and said its inspectors requested access to assess the reported damage. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi reiterated that attacks on or near nuclear facilities pose grave risks and stressed that nuclear infrastructure must never be targeted.
