US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrives in China
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Beijing on June 18. Secretary Blinken is on a two-day visit to China. He became first top American diplomat to visit China in five years amid frosty bilateral ties between both countries. Earlier, Blinken postponed his February trip to China after a suspected Chinese spy balloon flew over US airspace. He became the highest-ranking US govt official to visit China since President Joe Biden took office in January 2021. Blinken is expected to meet Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang, and possibly President Xi Jinping. Meanwhile, Prez Joe Biden on June 17 expressed his desire to meet Chinese Prez Xi Jinping in upcoming months.
