US Removes 13.5 Kg Of Enriched Uranium From Venezuela | Inside Details
Donald Trump has long demanded that Iran surrender its highly enriched uranium. But in a dramatic twist, the first uranium stockpile removed under Trump’s watch did not come from Tehran — it came from Venezuela. The United States, alongside the United Kingdom, Venezuela and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), carried out a complex multinational operation to remove 13.5 kilograms of highly enriched uranium from the RV-1 research reactor in Caracas. The uranium was securely packaged, transported under heavy security to a Venezuelan port, loaded onto a specialized nuclear carrier and shipped to the United States for processing and reuse at the Savannah River Site.
