Federal Bureau of Investigation released 'Hate Crime Statistics, 2019' on Monday. The report says that hate crimes in the US rose to the highest level in more than a decade. As per FBI, the crimes motivated by bias based on a person's race, religion or sexual orientation, among other categories are considered as a hate crime in the US. A total of 7,314 hate crimes took place in 2019. Which was more than 7,120 hate crimes in 2018, and before 2019, the highest numbers of hate crimes stood at 7,783 in 2008. Some say the increase in 2019 may be the result of better reporting by police departments. But law enforcement officials and advocacy groups don't doubt that hate crimes are on the rise.
