A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Ethan Hertweck, was killed by Russian forces in Ukraine while serving alongside Kyiv's army. The 21-year-old California native had traveled to Ukraine after Russia’s initial attack, returned to the U.S., and then went back to Ukraine to train Ukrainian troops and join a combat unit.
