US military laser downs Customs and Border Protection drone near El Paso as FAA expands Texas airspace closure. Lawmakers say the Pentagon used a high-risk counter-drone system, prompting new restricted airspace around Fort Hancock. The incident follows a recent shutdown of El Paso airport after another anti-drone laser deployment. More than 27,000 drones were detected near the southern border in six months, highlighting growing risks.
