Turkish President Erdogan seeks third decade in power

As Turkey’s longest serving leader, Recep Tayyip Erdogan faces a tough election challenge as he seeks a third consecutive term as the nation’s president. The 69-year-old, hit by high inflation and the aftermath of devastating earthquakes, is trailing in opinion polls behind a united opposition which has vowed to end his autocratic style of government. Erdogan is vying for a third term, having served three terms as prime minister before that.
