Authorities in Las Vegas are investigating a vehicle crash into a power substation as a possible terrorism-related incident. Police identified the driver as 23-year-old Dawson Maloney from Albany, New York, who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the suspect had communicated with family members before the crash, referencing self-harm and stating he intended to carry out an act that would make national news. In messages sent before the incident, he reportedly referred to himself as a terrorist. Sheriff Kevin McMahill confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public. Investigators discovered explosive materials and several books related to extremist ideologies in the suspect’s hotel room, including materials linked to political extremism, environmental extremism, white supremacist views, and anti-government movements. Authorities continue to examine the motive behind the incident as part of an active terrorism probe.
