The 13th Shanghai's annual Cherry Blossom Festival kicked off at Gucun Park in suburban Baoshan District on Wednesday, attracting more than 30,000 passemgers to join. The recent continuous sunny and warm weather contributed to the blooming of the flowers. The park will usher in peak passenger flow in the next two weekends as it is the best time to enjoy the atmosphere. In the past two days, many cherry blossom varieties are blooming in Gucun Park. Tourists flooded into the park in the afternoon, many of them were students. The long-lost spring outing made them very excited, and in some schools, thousands of children from all four grades were coming. Chen Shujuan, a teacher at Shanghai Qibao Experimental Middle School, said that this was the first time they came out for fun since the epidemic, so the students have been looking forward to it for a long time and felt extremely happy. Many tourists took advantage of the weekdays to stroll in a dream-like pink tunnel while enjoying the afternoon sun. Last weekend, the number of visitors to Gucun Park exceeded 100,000. In the next two weeks, the park will also usher in peak passenger flow. Li Yong, the person in charge of greening management of Gucun Park, said that "someiyoshino" will enter the blooming viewing period this weekend and last until next weekend. SInce these two weekends will usher in the peak period of passenger flow, he reminded tourists to travel at off-peak times. The Shanghai's annual Cherry Blossom Festival will last until April 15. More than 1,500 acres of cherry blossoms in Gucun Park will bloom together with tulips, orchids, rape flowers, and narcissus. The best viewing period for late cherry varieties is expected to fall around Qingming Festival.
