Venezuela has escalated tensions with the United States by announcing a new military phase aimed at blocking U.S. access to the Caribbean Sea. Defence Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez said the country has deployed 200,000 troops, naval fleets, and missile units under “Plan Independencia 200,” declaring the Caribbean “closed to U.S. interests.” The move follows the arrival of a U.S. aircraft carrier group in the region, which Caracas denounced as “aggression and intimidation.” Officials say the exercises reinforce Venezuela’s sovereignty and readiness amid growing regional tensions.
