Hollywood has had many famous couples, but maybe none more famous than Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward. Many of the iconic couple's items are going up for sale at Sotheby's in New York in June. Among the items up for sale are the shackles worn by Newman in his role as Luke Jackson in the movie "Cool Hand Luke." The World of Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman is currently on show at Sotheby's and the items for sale range from movie posters to a race car owned by the couple. Newman famed for his roles at a pool player in the "Hustler," and the "Color of Money" was a real-life avid pool player and on auction is his personal pool table. Some of the highest priced items up for auction are two of Newman's own Rolex Daytona watches, known in the watch community as "Paul Newman's." "These are Paul Newman's Paul Newman's," said Ian Ferreyra de Bone, an expert at Sotheby's. "When you think about it, you can't get a better Paul Newman, the one that Paul Newman actually had. And there are only so many out there and these are these are two of the last ones to be coming to market," Newman was also an avid race car driver and many of his driving suits and trophies are also up for auction. Newman and Woodward's items will feature in three Sotheby's auctions: "High Speed: Paul Newman’s Racing Legacy" ending on June 12th, "A Life & Legacy: The Joanne Woodward & Paul Newman Collection" ending on June 13th, and "Important Watches" ending on June 9th.
