Iraqis swelter as temperatures soar

Baghdad residents struggled to cope with the scorching heat on Friday as temperatures soared above 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit). Such heatwaves in Iraq add to the population's hardships as the country suffers from regular power cuts. A four-day mandatory holiday has been announced in Baghdad and ten other Iraqi provinces as temperatures rise.
