India has strongly reacted to US President Donald Trump’s “hell hole” remark, calling it uninformed, inappropriate and in poor taste. The statement came after Trump reshared an anti-immigration post on social media that made critical references to India and China. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India has taken note of the comments as well as the clarification issued by the US Embassy, adding that such remarks do not reflect the reality of India-US ties. He emphasized that the relationship between the two countries is built on mutual respect and shared interests. The US Embassy also referred to Trump’s earlier positive remarks describing India as a “great country” in its response.
