Iran War 'Nears' End? Trump Signals US May 'End Operation' Despite Hormuz Closure | Report

US President Donald Trump is signaling a major shift in strategy, indicating he is prepared to end the U.S. military campaign against Iran — even if the critical Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed. According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, Trump has told aides that reopening the world’s most vital oil chokepoint is no longer essential to ending the conflict. The decision comes as U.S. officials assess that any attempt to force open the strait could prolong the war beyond the administration’s preferred timeline. Instead, Washington appears focused on weakening Iran’s naval and missile capabilities before winding down hostilities and shifting toward diplomatic pressure. If reopening the strait fails, the U.S. may push allies in Europe and the Gulf to take the lead.
