An Iranian missile struck near the Australian military’s Al Minhad Air Base in the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday, causing minor damage but no injuries, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese confirmed. The projectile hit a road leading up to the base around 9:15 a.m. local time, igniting a small fire that affected an accommodation block and a medical facility. Albanese emphasized that all Australian personnel at the base are safe. He said he had spoken with Defence Minister Richard Marles and highlighted that the Iranian regime continues to carry out unpredictable attacks across the Gulf region. Australia maintains a defensive presence in the UAE, including an E-7 Wedgetail aircraft to assist in regional security. The missile strike comes amid continued Iranian attacks on Israel and neighboring Gulf countries.
