Mohsen Rezaee, a senior member of Iran’s Expediency Discernment Council, has issued a stark warning over the escalating tensions in the Gulf. Rezaee said the Strait of Hormuz “will not be opened,” declaring that no American ship has the right to enter the Persian Gulf. He claimed Iran has broken “American hegemony” and argued that the ongoing conflict could shift regional power in Tehran’s favour while weakening the United States. Rezaee also warned of turbulence in global energy markets, saying the US release of oil from its strategic reserves would only stabilise prices for a short time and predicting a potential massive spike in oil prices later. He added that long-term security in the Gulf would only be possible if US forces withdraw from the region.
