Writer David Simon was behind the idea of almost writing off female lead Sonja Sohn who plays Kima Greggs on the show. David when asked said, "I'm glad I was talked out of it. But that's what happened. I probably made that joke. I think it probably made that joke. But it was a joke. I mean, I felt like it's our responsibility to write everybody. "
