The United States has quietly pre-positioned Airborne special forces at Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti, the only permanent US military base on the African continent directly adjacent to the Bab el-Mandeb strait. A Boeing 747 flew from Fort Liberty, home of the 82nd Airborne and US Army Special Operations Command, to Djibouti on March 19. The Strait of Hormuz is already effectively shut. The Bab el-Mandeb through which 10-12 percent of global trade passes daily is the second chokepoint the Houthis have both the will and capability to close. Two chokepoints simultaneously under hostile control would be a global energy and trade shock with no modern precedent. The US is positioning before that happens.#djibouti #babelMandeb #camplemonnier #specialforces #houthis #hormuz #chokepoint #redsea #iranwar #westasia #iranisraelwar #82ndairborne #fortliberty #globaltrade #breakingnews
