Three women are in quarantine in El Salvador while doctors check them for symptoms of the new coronavirus. The women arrived in the country on Monday night after travelling from China via Panama. They were evaluated by medical specialists and taken by ambulance to an isolation room in a local hospital, where they will complete a 14 day quarantine in line with World Health Organization guidelines. Francisco Alabi, El Salvador's deputy health minister, emphasised they had been placed in quarantine as a precautionary measure pending further medical checks. "The patients have already been evaluated and are being taken at this time to the quarantine and surveillance area in case they show symptoms of coronavirus infection," he said. El Salvador has suspended people from entering the country on direct flights from China. There are, as yet, no confirmed cases of the coronavirus in El Salvador.
